Zebra Hills Game Reserve

Located within South Africa’s Manyoni Private Game Reserve, on the eastern coast, just north of Durban and Richards Bay, is the Zebra Hills Game Reserve. This private game reserve was created in 2004, when seventeen forward-thinking, environmentally conscious landowners, dropped their internal fences to create a game reserve specifically for protecting South Africa’s Big 5 endangered species. 

Nestled in the Msunduzi valley in northern Zululand in the province of Kwa-Zulu Natal, the Zebra Hills Game Reserve ranges from open savanna to riverbed woodlands. Here, over seventy species and a diversity of birds live in an unspoiled and natural environment. Wildlife as You May Never Experience Them Again

Among the acacia trees, along the riverbanks, or across the bushveld, you’ll experience the animals of Africa in their native habitat. Expect to see elusive black rhinos, kudus with their spiraling horns, baboon, vervet monkeys, warthogs, waterbucks, reed bucks, the natal red duiker, herds of giraffe, zebra, or cape buffalo, as well as, white rhinos, lions, African elephants, leopards, hyena, and jackals. Zebra Hills Safari Lodge Accommodations

The stately Lodge is a beautifully decorated seven-bedroom luxury retreat with air conditioning, a chef’s kitchen, and private bathrooms for every bedroom. The timeshare lodge’s sprawling raised deck overlooks a waterhole favorited by lion, buffalo, rhino, and other game animals, both large and small. A boma (fenced enclosure) is designed for a relaxing braai (barbeque) adjacent to a net-covered swimming pool and children’s play area. Although the lodge features dramatic architecture and elegant furnishings, it is designed as a family-friendly destination and is welcoming and safe for even the youngest vacationers. 

Larger groups may wish to expand the Lodge rental to include a three-bedroom, Homestead, which also has three attached family rooms, its own kitchen, and an expansive deck. Timeshare owners and guests at the Zebra Hills Safari Lodge have access to an open safari vehicle, two game drive sessions per day with game guide, and the services of a maid, cook, and an assistant.
