The Destinations points program operates as a points-based way of reserving timeshare accommodation within the Marriott Vacation Club resort network. These points are purchased for use within the network and are renewed annually, with the number of points to be purchased depending on the type of desired vacation.
Each resort is assigned a points value by Marriott, with the amount of points needed to take a vacation at a certain resort dependent on factors such as:
* RESORT LOCATION
* SIZE OF UNIT
* DURATION OF STAY
* SEASON
Generally, the higher the demand for a Marriott timeshare location, the higher the points value needed to vacation at that resort. In addition, the longer the stay, the larger the unit requested and the more popular the season, the more points it will require to vacation. The flexibility of the program even allows owners to borrow from future years’ allotments to create a longer vacation stay or bank points for future use.
Marriott Vacation Club Destinations Points grant you access to outstanding timeshare resorts in the Marriott network, with units ranging from studio size to 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom villas and spacious townhouses. Destinations span the ski slopes of Colorado, the theme parks of Orlando, spectacular beaches in Aruba and the paradise of Hawaii through to exotic Thailand and the southern coast of Spain.
The choice of resorts expands even more when you consider Marriott’s relationship with timeshare exchange company Interval International. Because of this affiliation, Marriott Destinations points owners can join Interval through an additional membership and use their points toward a vacation from among the 3,000 resorts which are part of the Interval International network. And not only are resorts on the menu, but cruises, guided tours and other travel products can be secured through an Interval membership.
