Understanding Your DVC Membership
When you become a Disney Vacation Club Member, you will literally take ownership in "your own little piece of Disney magic." Your DVC Membership is measured in Disney points, but is secured to a specific real estate investment in one particular Disney Vacation Club resorts, known as your home resort. All DVC membership comes with an end-date or expiration.
The first Disney Vacation Club resorts, (Beach Club Villas, Boardwalk Villas, Villas at Wilderness Lodge, Old Key West, Vero Beach Resort, and the DVC Club Hilton Head Resort) are closer to their expiration date of January 31, 2042 than resorts that were built more recently. Many buyers of Disney points are happy that they have nearly thirty years of Disney vacation fun ahead, while others prefer to buy at a home resort that offers a later expiration date and thereby a longer ownership window.
Your DVC membership is also linked to a use year. Use years are all 12-months in length but are staggered throughout the calendar year and never begin in January. Although your use year will not match the calendar year, your annual Disney Vacation Club member dues schedule will. Annually, your dues statement will be mailed to you in December and will be due in full the next month, in January (typically on the fifteenth). Disney Vacation Club also offers its members a monthly payment plan allowing you to spread the cost of your dues over multiple payments.
Your dues pay your portion of upgrades scheduled for your property, the property or real estate taxes, ongoing maintenance, and operating fees. Disney dues are estimated for each upcoming year and any overages are credited back to your account at the end of the dues period. The rate you pay for your Disney dues is based on your home resort and the number of Disney points you own.
